What Are Bounce Houses Made of?
Time: 2019-02-25 14:04
This article is about how the inflatable bouncy castles made and what materials are used to make the inflatable play structures.
When new customers coming to us and talking about the special inflatable bouncers they want, they usually ask what material is used to make inflatables? And we always tell them the standard material we use is 15oz PVC tarpaulin. I'm not sure if all of them understand what it means. All they want is high quality and durability and safety, so sometimes they will check back again if the material we use can support their specific structure and usage requirements. Today, let's make a detailed introduction about out manufacturing process and materials we use to show you why sunjoy factory is an inflatable manufacturer that you can trusted.

1. How are bounce house and other inflatable play structure made?

The process of manufacturing a bouncy house can seem complicated to some suppliers without a factory, but it is in fact quite simple for you to understand. First of all, our designers come up with a concept according to your requirements, and then put it on a computer and take the entire inflatable structure apart piece by piece. Then the separated pattern of a bouncy castle will be sent to the printing department. Printing department will print the pattern on blank material with a digital printer, and use a pattern cutter to cut the pattern. The pattern cutter is a computer-guided circular razor that can cut every piece of pattern of the jump house. After cutting, the material will be sent to the sewing and stitching department and then sewed together to foam a complete moon bounce play unit. Then inflate for quality inspection and packaging.

2. What materials are bounce houses made from?

Basically, there are two types of bounce houses you can find on the market, we call them commercial bounce houses and residential bounce house. They are different products so the materials they used are also different. The common commercial inflatable jumpers are normally developed with different weights of PVC tarpaulin (vinyl), and residential inflatables are generally made of different densities of nylon or polyester oxford (oxford fabric). You can read this article to learn the difference between commercial and residential bounce houses.

Commercial PVC Tarpaulin

This material is known as a long lasting material with water-resistant, durable, flexible and that's why it's used extensively in bounce house industry. It's heavyweight and measured in terms of unit weight. So you can see they have 8oz, 15oz, 18oz various kinds. The heaver the PVC tarpaulin material means the stronger the bounce houses. Commercial grade jumping houses can easily support and hold the weight of heavier adults, so setup and take down may be a little challenging. The high quality PVC tarpaulin material is known for its strong and resistant to tearing with super long lasting lifespan. In addition, this kind of material is also easy to clean and maintain.

Heavy-duty Nylon

This kind of material is frequently utilized for vast residential bounce houses since it is stronger than polyester. We usually use weight classifications to measure their thickness, like 4520D, 600D. The unit of D stands for a denier, a measurement unit of density. The fabric with a higher density is stronger and progressively solid, residential bounce house made of higher density nylon material is stronger. Although heavy-duty nylon material is more strong than polyester oxford, but it's generally not the best choice. Nylon material can retain more water than PVC and polyester materials, so it's more difficult to dry out after cleaning.

Oxford Fabric

Polyester oxford also called woven oxford fabric, this material is ideal and common for small residential bounce houses. Although it may be a little less strong than nylon, but it's tough, lightweight, more water resistant, and is increasingly resistant to sagging. But most importantly, it's relatively cheap and high quality. And most of the residential grade bouncy castles are small for younger kids and used indoors, so this kind of material can be considered the best choice of lightweight inflatable structure. You can see many inflatable air dancers and lightweight advertising cartoons are made of oxford fabric.

In sunjoy factory, we only use the most cost-effective commercial grade PVC tarpaulin material to ensure all inflatable play structures are durable and safe. For some important parts like the bottom, we use the best material like 18oz PVC tarpaulin to ensure the wear resistance, and for some less important parts like the roof, sunshade fabric and cartoons, we use lighter material like 8oz PVC tarpaulin to reduce the total weight and save costs. This is just for standard products. If you have any special requirements for your inflatable structures, you can always customize and choose any material you like!
